APA LA members enjoy discounts on events and competitions and are entitled to attend Members' only programs. APA LA produces ongoing programing like: continuing business education, face-to-face portfolio reviews, panel discussions, and presentations by award-winning photographers.

APA Success Teams
Currently Success Teams has no openings until January 2016, please contact us in January.
SUCCESS TEAMS ARE GREAT, BUT THEY ARE NOT FOR EVERYONE.
If you do not meet all of the following prerequisites, please do not apply for the Success Team Program:
APA Emerging (EMG) Photographer or APA Professional Photographer (PHO) Member
EMG or PHO Member of APA LA, APA SF, APA CH or APA NY (currently not available anywhere else)
- Full-time professional photographer with verifiable client list, portfolio, and website
- You must be self-motivated to setting and achieving your own career goals
- You must be self-motivated to continually contribute to your teammates’ progress
- You must be committed to doing the hard work necessary for a successful photo career
WHAT EXACTLY IS A SUCCESS TEAM?
A Success Team is an Accountability Team for APA Pro Photographer members, and Emerging Photographer members. The Success Team mission is to help each member of the team identify and clarify his or her own professional goals for success and accomplish the aspired goals through encouragement, feedback, support and mutual accountability.
Success Teams stimulate dialogue among thinking, proactive, committed APA photographers, encouraging team members to share ideas, experiences, successes and challenges, as a means of fostering individual and collective achievement.
A Success Team is the balanced focusing of minds and attentions on individually specific goals that multiplies effectiveness and produces greater results in a shorter period of time.
Long time APA SF Success Team member Mel Lindstrom said:

This combination not only keeps the team members working well together, it often leads to lasting friendships.
Through communicating with peers, in a spirit of good will and harmony, we expand ourselves, our business, and our world. Via the ST (Success Team) experience with others, we gain insights and bring new perspectives to our work and life. Joining with peers on a ST provides impetus for keeping up with change, problem solving, and positions us for both setting attainable goals, and for seizing rapidly opening and closing opportunities. In short, being on an APA Success Team means you are committed to being a proactive member in a close-knit community of mutual support. These are professional friends you quickly grow to trust.

WHAT A SUCCESS TEAM IS NOT:
It's not a class, though members will learn from each other
It's not a discussion group, although discussions will take place
It's not a social club, although members will socialize
It's not a therapy group, although members will express their feelings.
It's not a specialty group; diversity of perspectives is key to creative problem solving
It's not a Mentor group; no one will tell you how they achieved success, in a previous era
If you love the idea of working with other creative people in a positive, creative, and supportive environment, nothing will inspire you like having your own Success Team.
Each team is made up of 6-8 committed members who generally meet every two – four weeks.
All teams receive initial training by an APA ST video, and through observing and interacting with your team. There are also follow-ups by an APA Local Chapter Coordinator to help team members manage their own goals and help each other in a collaborative relationship that provides encouragement, accountability, and a strong sense of community.
Individual goals often include portfolio development, vision, self-promotion, marketing and adding value to one's work - any goal necessary to move forward in one's career. These teams are highly praised for the positive and interactive environment where members inspire each other to get precisely where they want to go.
HOW MUCH DOES THIS ADDITIONAL APA EMG/PHO MEMBER BENEFIT COST?
There are two payment options available. All major credit cards are accepted.
PAYMENT OPTIONS: a one-time fee of $295 or two part payment of $147.50/ea
These fees cover Administration, Team assignment, Team training video, Team Member Manual, Team follow-up, and admission to most of the APA ST events.

New Teams are established periodically in the APA LA, APA SF, and APA NY’s regions and are available to Emerging (EMG) and Professional Photographer (PHO) APA Members only. Occasionally, existing teams are re-organized so openings for new members also occur at those times.
